Death Toll Rises To 11,921

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit southwest China, some 95km northwest of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province. The earthquake occurred at 2.28pm local time, and was felt as far away as Hanoi and Bangkok. State media say 11,921 people are confirmed dead.

China Drafts New Regulations For E-commerce

The Ministry of Commerce is currently drafting two new important rules to streamline E-Commerce. The new rules will apply to all e-commerce businesses and reportedly stipulates that all store operators must be validated by a legal body and must provide company license, tax registration, special service license and contact details at the bottom of their websites.

Swiss Air Lines Launches Daily Shanghai Flight

Chinese Enterprises' FDI Quadruples in First Quarter

China’s foreign direct investment has quadrupled, hitting USD19.34 bn in the first quarter, compared to USD18.76 bn for the whole of 2007.
