The new Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in London will begin operations on 26 June. From this date, Chinese ordinary visa applications are required to be submitted to the CVASC, and appointments can be made in advance via www.chinese-embassy.org.uk, by clicking "visa/online appointment for application of visas". Appointments can be made up to one month in advance.

According to the CVASC website, "The demand for Chinese visas has grown rapidly in recent years. To provide a better service for visa applicants, the Chinese Embassy in the U.K., following the success of the visa centers of other countries, decided to introduce a Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in June 2008. CVASC is responsible for receiving visa applications for visit to mainland China from ordinary passport holders who are UK citizens and citizens of other countries possessing UK permanent residence or work permits, collecting visa fees on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and returning processed visa applications."

The CVASC address is Morley House, 26 Holborn Viaduct, London EC1A 2AT. Tel: 0207 842 0960. For more information, visit: www.visaforchina.org.uk.
