Arcapita Invests USD2 bn in China Wind Farms
Bahrain-based Arcapita Bank has formed a partnership with Singapore's Colossus Holdings to set up wind farms in northern China's Inner Mongolia province, Reuters reports. The joint venture will invest USD2 bn to buy Honiton Energy Holdings, a Chinese wind energy generator, and to finance the wind farms. By 2012, the capacity is planned to reach 1,650 MW. Official statistics show that as of 2007, total wind energy capacity in China stood at 6,000MW per year.

 

Carlyle Group Buys Into Sinorgchem
U.S. private equity firm Carlyle Group will invest USD87m in Shanghai chemical company Sinorgchem Group, state media reports. The Chinese corporation is the "largest supplier of para-phenylenediames (PPDs), a key chemical additive in the production of rubber products", Xinhua new agency adds.
