GlaxoSmithKline Plc has announced its plans to increase its Research & Development workforce in China.
The drugmaker aims to have 200 employees by the end of this year and
350 the following year. The decision was vital to its plan to maximise
its investment in biotech machines. Staff numbers will reportedly stay
fixed for up to four years after the increase but will be increased
again following the company’s expansion in China.
Glaxo reported last year that it believes that China will become the new crucible of the global biotechnology industry.
