35 Chinese Companies on Fortune 500 List
Sinopec is the highest-ranked Chinese company on the new Fortune 500 List. With USD159.26 bn in revenue, the oil refiner is placed 16th, followed by other state-owned companies such as State Grid (24) and the China National Petroleum Corp (25). Twenty-six companies on the new list are from mainland China. There are three Hong Kong companies and six from Taiwan on the list. The ranking is led by Wal-Mart, followed by Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell and Toyota.

 

China Distance Education to List on New York Stock Exchange
China Distance Education Holdings has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to raise USD115m in an IPO at the New York Stock Exchange. The Beijing-based company was founded in 2000, and generated revenues of USD11.8m in 2007. Citi Bank and Merrill Lynch are reportedly set to act as underwriters.
