Growing arrivals from China and India helped the U.S. Department of Commerce announce that 4.1 million international visitors travelled to the United States in April 2008, up two per cent on April 2007.
While Japanese arrivals declined 10 per cent in April, and are down
four per cent for year-to-date, 2008 arrivals to the United States from
PR China, India and South Korea grew 33 per cent, 11 per cent and three
per cent, respectively.
Taiwanese visitation recovered from its first
quarter decline, increasing seven per cent in April. Japan accounts for 54 per cent of all Asian visitors for the year.
