- Newest statistics show that China's gross domestic product (GDP)
grew 10.4 percent to RMB13.06 tr in the first six months, year-on-year.
The growth rate was 1.8 percentage points lower than in the first half of
last year.
- China's GDP grew 11.3 per cent in the fourth quarter last year, 10.6 per cent
in the first quarter this year and 10.1 per cent in the second quarter.
- Shanghai's GDP expanded 10.3 per cent in the first half
this year to RMB657.4 bn, down 2.7 percentage
points from the same period last year.
- Chinese government will spend RMB12.7 bn on
upgrading lower-yield farmland this year, the State Office for
Comprehensive Agricultural Development said this week.
- China's southwestern Sichuan province suffered RMB58.3 bn losses to
its transportation sector in the May 12 earthquake, the Ministry of
Transport said on Wednesday.
- China has confiscated more than 46.1 million illegal publications in
the first half of 2008, including 1.6 million adult movies, 50,000 smuggled
compact discs and 1.07 million illegal newspapers and magazines.
- The producer price index (PPI) for China's industrial products rose 7.6
per cent year-on-year during the first half of this year, the National
Bureau of Statistics said Thursday.
- China's consumer price index (CPI) increased
7.9 per cent in the first half of 2008 compared to the same period last year, the National Bureau
of Statistics said on Thursday.
