Hong Kong's Inflation Hits 6.1 Per Cent
After a 5.7 per cent hike in May, consumer prices in Hong Kong officially increased 6.1 per cent year-on-year in June, the government said on its website. The rising Chinese currency, which has appreciated against the HK Dollar by almost 7 per cent since January, and rising food, energy and housing prices have all added to inflationary pressures. As reported last week , Hong Kong's Chief Executive Donald Tsang proposed a HKD11 bn inflation relief package including food allowances and energy subsidies.

Beijing Airport to Close for Olympic Opening Ceremony
The capital's airport will close between 7:59pm and midnight on 8 August, state media reports. International and domestic flights will be affected, including twenty flights from Shanghai to Beijing that will be either cancelled or delayed. Starting from 20 July, extra security checks will be carried out at airports in 18 Chinese cities and regions.
