China is investigating two explosions that killed at least two commuters on buses in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

The first bomb exploded on Monday morning at 7.05am on a bus on one of the city's main thoroughfares. One person was killed and another ten injured, according to state media. A second explosion occurred on a different bus about an hour later, killing one person and injuring four. Some reports say there was also a third explosion, in which two people were killed.

The bus explosions come just three weeks before the opening of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, and follow similar explosions in recent months in Shanghai.
