Germany's Fraport AG has invested RMB490m in a joint venture to operate and manage the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, the company announced in a press release.

As reported in March, Fraport has agreed to invest RMB490m in a partnership with the China West Airport Group Aviation Logistics (Xi'an) Co. Ltd, China Aviation Airport Investment Co. Ltd and China West Airport Group. The total registered capital of the new company is RMB2 bn, of which the China West Airport Group invested more than half and holds a 50.9 per cent majority share, while Fraport and the Aviation Airport Investment each holds 24.5 per cent.

The company is scheduled to start operation in September. Fraport said it is the first foreign airport operator to invest in a Chinese airport that is not listed on the stock exchange.
