Consumer goods manufacturer Procter & Gamble said it will increase prices of certain products in China, state media reports.
Its sanitary pad brand Whisper and baby diaper Pampers products will
become 10 to 15 per cent more expensive, a P&G spokesperson said
during a press conference. In June, the company increased prices for
Pantene shampoos and Crest toothpaste.
P&G said price hikes are necessary to control rising material
costs, such as water absorbent materials and pulp. The U.S.-based
consumer goods maker also said it is likely that there will be a third
price increase for some products later this year. Unilever, P&G's
main competitor, has reportedly decided to up its prices between six
and 20 per cent, according to state media.
