Four days after China's new anti-trust law came into force, Chinese companies have stated that they intend to take Microsoft to court for "monopolistic activities," according to Chinese media.
Evermore Software's General Manger Cao Can said that his company is
"collecting proof of Microsoft's "monopolistic activities and will
fight against the U.S. software giant when the conditions are mature",
First Financial Daily reports. The report also quotes Cao as claiming
that Microsoft's sales and technology are harming his company's
interests and "restrict the development and innovation of China's software industry".
State media also quotes unidentified sources as saying that other
leading games and applications companies "will definitely bring
Microsoft to court, because according to the anti-monopoly law,
Microsoft undoubtedly holds a monopoly in the Chinese market."
As reported earlier, rumours had it that Microsoft and other foreign software and technology companies are being investigated by the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office.
