The Opening Ceremony of the Olympics is just two days away, and the Torch Relay today finally arrived in the Chinese capital. Basketball superstar Yao Ming carried the torch through Tiananmen Square.

Wednesday also saw a handful of anti-Olympic protests across the city. Four protestors, including two Britons, were arrested during a pro-Tibet protest outside the Bird's Nest national stadium early this morning. Later in the day, foreign media was summoned to a series of bizarre protests in hotel rooms in Beijing, where anti-China slogans were daubed on the walls and dummies were left on the beds covered in fake blood.

Protests aside, the torch relay and athletic events "add an extra dimension of planning for anyone touring Beijing," says Beijing-based tour specialist Wild China . Its website lists the tourism sites that will be closed in the coming days, including, from 5-8 August, the China Millennium Monument, Temple of Heaven, the Badaling Great Wall, and Jinshan Park. Badaling Great Wall will also be closed on: 7 Aug (11:00-16:00), 9-10 Aug (all day), 11 Aug (10:00 -15:00) and 13 Aug (all day)
