The Swiss government opened a new science and technology centre, called Swissnex, in Shanghai yesterday. The centre will support the research and exchange of Chinese and Swiss universities.
With a yearly budget of RMB15m, Swissnex will boost cooperation and
foster scientific cooperation between both countries in science, technology and culture, Mauro Dell' Ambrogio, State Secretary for Education and Research, said during the opening ceremony.
The centre will also facilitate joint research programmes between
Chinese and Swiss universities. Switzerland spends three per cent of its GDP on R&D, almost double the spending in China.
