Several Chinese drinks makers have reportedly lobbied the government for it to block Coca-Cola's takeover of Huiyuan Juice Group, state media reports.

A consortium has worked out three plans to keep the Huiyuan brand in Chinese hands, Reuters reports quoting Chinese media sources. The Chinese drinks manufacturers have apparently suggested breaking up Huiyuan and selling the divisions to different domestic companies.

Another plan proposes to buy the company with an RMB-denominated fund financed by domestic companies. A third option would allow Coca-Cola to buy Huiyuan but the government would retain the brand name and sell it to domestic firms.

Coca-Cola has not yet filed an application to the Ministry of Commerce for the takeover, Xinhua news agency reports.
