Campbell Recalls Soups in HK and Macau
Another food scare as Campbell's Soup Asia said it has recalled 30,000 cans of soup in Hong Kong and Macau after receiving complaints that some of the soups "emitted an objectionable smell." The recall included cans of condensed cream of mushroom soup and creamy chicken mushroom soup manufactured in Malaysia. Campbell said in a statement that "we have no evidence to indicate that these products present a health or safety risk."


Harbinger Accepts Sinosteel's Midwest Deal

New York-based investment group Harbinger Capital Partners sold its 15.2 per cent stake in Australian iron ore prospector Midwest Corp to Sinosteel, Reuters reports. The Chinese company increased its ownership in Midwest to 98.5 per cent, allowing for a compulsory acquisition of the remaining shares. Harbinger, which has previously opposed a sale to Sinosteel, sold its shares for AUS6.38 a piece. The U.S.-company paid AUS7 per share when it bought into Midwest.
