Wellcome Recalls Yoghurt Bar in Hong Kong
The supermarket shopping recall list grows longer by the day. Now, supermarket Wellcome is recalling the grandly-named "Yili Natural Choice Yoghurt Ice Bar with Real Fruit" from retail outlets in Hong Kong. The recall comes after tests found melamine in these ice bars. This is the same toxic chemical substance that has caused the current the baby milk powder scandal in China. Yili is one of 22 companies that the Chinese government has accused of selling contaminated dairy products in China.

China Lifts U.S. Poultry Ban
Trade officials said that China has agreed to lift a bird flu-related ban on American poultry. The announcement was made during the one-day trade talks between the two countries at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California. Chinese media reports that China also agreed to "conditionally resume imports of American beef," while AP quotes U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez as saying that convincing China to allow imports of U.S. beef was "not resolved."
