Melco China Resorts has revealed plans for its inaugural ski-centre development, Sun Mountain Yabuli, which the company says will "Revolutionise [China's] ski resort industry and all aspects of mountain resort development."
The year-round Sun Mountain Yabuli resort, located 2.5 hours from the
city of Harbin in northern Heilongjiang province, aims to be the first
international-standard ski resort in China, "and fill the need for
up-market recreational activities among the country's rapidly growing
middle and upper classes."
The revamped alpine village has three hotels under construction (two at
the base of the mountain, and one at the top) with a total of 312
rooms, including 24 luxury sky suites with sauna, outdoor hot tub and
observatory due to be completed by December 2008. A 263-room condo
hotel is also being developed for completion by December 2009. The
boutique-style Sun Mountain Lodge has been invited to join the Small
Luxury Hotels of the World collection. Mountainside resort homes will
also be available for sale.
In addition to the on-mountain and resort activities for accomplished
skiers and beginners, Sun Mountain will offer tennis, zip lining,
boating and water sports, equestrian, biking, luxury camping and
performance driving schools.
