China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, which is the national quality watchdog, has published a list of more than 300 testing agencies approved to conduct melamine testing.
The publishing of the test centre names is part of efforts to quell
public anger and sliding consumer confidence as the ongoing
contaminated dairy products scandal severely affects the nation's dairy
and related food industries.
The list includes the Beijing-based testing centre under the Chinese
Academy of Inspection and Quarantine, the testing centre for animals,
plants and food under the Tianjin Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine
Bureau, and Taiyuan Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.
The Administration said it would continue to update the list of "credible" agencies on its website.
