South Korea has found melamine in 10 Chinese-produced dairy products and related foods, including M&Ms, Snickers and Kit Kat, Reuters reports.
The national Korean food agency examined 402 processed products
manufactured in China, and 10 of them were found to be contaminated
with melamine. "The levels of melamine found in those products do not
pose a big health threat but we'll take the necessary steps to ensure
food safety," a spokesperson said. The Food and Drug Administration
agency ordered retailers and importers to take off the products off the shelves.
The 10 tainted products include M&M's milk chocolate snack,
Snickers Peanut Fun Size, both produced by Mars Inc, Kit Kat bars by
Nestle and - Hide quoted text - Ritz Sandwich Cracker Cheese and rice
cookies produced for domestic food companies, Reuters writes.
Meanwhile, Australian importers started withdrawing Chinese-made Kirin
Milk Tea after test results showed levels of melamine, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said.
