Starbucks has selected Baxy as its new milk supplier in China, following the ditching of its previous supplier, Mengniu, because of the melamine contamination scandal.

The move was announced as three Chinese dairy companies, Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group, Mengniu Dairy and Bright Dairy Group, publicly apologised for their involvement in the scandal that has killed at least four children and hospitalised thousands more.

Starbucks is using whole milk products produced by Baxy in its cafes in north, northeast, southwest, and central China. However, Chinese media reports state that Starbucks is not currently offering skimmed milk products, as Baxy does not produce them.
