Chinese actress and global megastar Zhang Ziyi has reopened her
Shanzhai restaurant in Beijing, after the short-lived original organic
concept failed to lure customers, according to Time Out Beijing.
The star of Memoirs of a Geisha, Rush Hour 2 and Crouching Tiger Hidden
Dragon, as well as countless glamorous advertising campaigns and
magazine photo shoots, has apparently reconfigured the restaurant as a
conventional Japanese eaterie. “Attempting to drum up support from her
celebrity pals,” Time Out reports, “[Zhang] is rumoured to have dined
there last weekend with several supermodels, with more slated to drop
by this week.”
According to media reports, Zhang is currently filming Mei Lanfang, a
USD15 m project by Chinese director Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine
and The Emperor and the Assassin). The movie will chronicle the life of
the famous Peking opera star Mei Lanfang, and is set to be released
next year.
