HK Disneyland Expands
The Hong Kong government and Disney are currently in talks to "significantly expand" the Hong Kong Disneyland Theme Park, news wires report. The two parties are reportedly discussing the possibility of adding three new themed land items for HKD5 bn. The government, which holds 57 per cent in the park, may signal interest in funding some of the expansion to support the slowing economy. The park currently occupies 80 hectares of the 126-hectare site.
CCTV Increases Ad Sales
Chinese and foreign advertisers have comitted RMB9.26 bn to run
commercials on China's state-run Central Television stations in 2009,
the Wall Street Journal reports. Price increases of up to 10 per cent
led to a 15.4 per cent sales surge compared to 2008. Kweichow Maotai, a
Chinese liquor maker, is reportedly paying RMB51m for the most
expensive ad space, shown just before the 7pm news.
