The Chinese government singled out 122 domestic and foreign brands whose household appliances will be subsidised for rural households, state media reports.

The government will grant a 13 per cent subsidy for electric appliances to support rural residents in several provinces. Households in Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Hubei and Shaanxi provinces are eligible to buy appliances manufactured by Samsung, Panasonic, Nokia, Motorola and other foreign brands for a discounted price.

The subsidy is also granted for products from domestic companies including Hisense, Konka, Meiling and Haier.
