China Mobile (HK) added 5.586 million new mobile phone subscribers in August, pushing the carrier's total subscriber base to 343.56 million, the company said today. China Unicom, the listed arm of China's second largest mobile phone operator, announced that it added 1.425 million new mobile phone subscribers in August, pushing the carrier's total mobile phone subscriber base up to 154.512 million.

 

 

PetroChina to Issue 4 Billion A-Shares

Hong Kong-listed PetroChina, which intends to issue 4 billion A-shares in Shanghai later this year, will use the proceeds to increase crude oil production capacity of its Daqing and Changqing oilfields, develop its recent major discovery at the Jidong Nanpu Oilfield, expand its ethylene output, and build an oil product transmission pipeline linking the cities of Lanzhou and Changsha, according to a document released recently by the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA).

 

Sanofi-Aventis in Legal Battle with Jiangsu Hengrui

Interfax reports that Sanofi-Aventis Group has stepped up its intellectual property rights dispute with Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine Co. Ltd., one of China's largest anti-tumor drugs manufacturers, with Sanofi-Aventis claiming that the Chinese company has infringed on its patent for a cancer drug.
