Schneider Electric is facing a huge IPR infringement compensation bill
after a Chinese low-voltage product maker succeeded with a patent
infringement lawsuit against the French company and its Chinese sales agent.
Wenzhou Intermediate People's Court in Zhejiang Province ordered that
Schneider and its authorised distributor, Leqing Branch of Star Electric Equipment Co. Ltd. in Zhejiang, must stop selling five product
lines based on the technology owned by Chint Group, China's leading manufacturer of low-voltage electric apparatus. Schneider was ordered to pay RMB334.8m compensation for economic losses, thought
to be the largest IPR infringement compensation awarded in China.
