Chinese mayors and deputy mayors from 38 cities convened at the National Mayoral Training Centre in Beijing for the inaugural Joint US-China Cooperation for Clean Energy (JUCCCE) Mayoral Training Course on energy policymaking.
JUCCCE premiered "its first Energy Smart City training module, designed to educate Chinese Mayors about reducing local energy demand, 'greening' up the local energy supply, and creating a green economy in their city," according to an official statement. JUCCCE has partnered with China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to host a series of courses on this topic over the next three years in Beijing. The kick-off one-day module "focused on energy planning, energy efficiency in buildings, and green jobs." It will be followed up by an expanded seven-day course from 18-24 May discussing "international ‘best practice’ strategies with a heavy emphasis on making these ideas work in China’s unique policy, market, and regulatory environment." |
