Financial services, tobacco and alcohol are the top three industries for homegrown Chinese brands, according to a newly published report of the Top 100 Most Valuable Chinese Brands and the Top Fifty Privately-Held Chinese Brnds, published by the Hurun Institute. Apparel companies make up most of the privately-held homegrown brands.
China Mobile tops the main list for the third consecutive year with a brand value of USD29.3 bn. PingAn topped Privately-Held Brands list for the second consecutive year with a brand value of USD3.7 bn.
“Homegrown Chinese brands are beginning to take on a life of their own, despite their lack of international recognition,” says Rupert Hoogewerf, CEO of Hurun Report. “It is becoming harder for international brands to make waves in China.”
The Top 10 most valuable brands on the list are: China Mobile, ICBC, CCB, Bank of China, China Life, China Telecom, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of Communications, Moutai and Zhonghua.
