Chinese carmaker Geely plans to invest USD30m to set up distribution and marketing networks for its cars manufactured and sold in Indonesia, the Antara news agency reports.
Geely Holdings said through its Indonesian division PT Geely Mobil Indonesia that it hopes to gain "a substantial share of car market in the country."
Chinese state media quotes Richard Yang, a Director of Geely Holdings, as saying that Indonesia would be the company's "starting base to enter markets in the Southeast Asia region." Geely plans initially to assemble 400 cars at its PT Gaya Motor plant this year, 125 of of which will be exported to China.
