With 500 days to go before the start of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou,  the organisers have announced that one million tickets will be issued for worldwide purchase.

The locally based ticket agent Cityline (Guangdong) Ltd has been named the "Exclusive Supplier of Ticket Services" to the 16th Asian Games. It will "develop, operate and maintain a ticket sales system; an official website for the ticketing program; ticket outlets and venue-based ticket booths," according to an official statement.

Ticket sales will be carried out in three phases. The first phase will start in January and end in March, "when applications and fees for tickets will be received and results then announced by lottery." The second phase will be from July to August, followed by the final phase from October to the end of the Games. In Phase II and III, "tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis."
