Qingdao-based white goods manufacturer Haier has reportedly agreed a sponsorship deal with U.S. NBA team the New Jersey Nets, though the deal is not yet officially announced.
Asia Sponsorship News reports that the deal will see Haier set up a store at the Nets planned new USD800m, 22-acre Barclays Centre arena in Brooklyn. The value of the Haier sponsorship is unknown, but the report says similar deals at the Barclays Centre for drinks company Jones Soda Shoppe and entertainment venue operator Foxwoods are worth more than USD100m. The New York Times says "the agreement with Haier, which makes the National Basketball Association’s official high-definition television," is expected to be formally announced "within the next several days."
