The results of the first global survey on China's tourism industry will be revealed at the World Travel Market conference in London in November, according to China Contact. Roy Graff, Managing Director of China Contact, has summarised some interesting findings of the survey so far:

- Average annual visits to China by travel professionals increased from 2.5 times to 4.6 times in the last 7 years.
- 61% of respondents believe that the media hype surrounding China is justified.
- 71% believe that the 100 million outbound travellers from China mark will be reached before 2015. 

- Of those that had a negative experience with business in China, 54% put it down to the wrong local partner, 31% due to misunderstanding of the local culture and 23% because of  bad preparation or the wrong product.
- 57% of respondents have a marketing budget for China which is equal to or higher than other markets.
- 80% reported an increase in business over the past 5 years.
- 82% are already active or about to launch sales and marketing activities in China.
- Interestingly, 58% are learning or planning to learn Mandarin Chinese!
