Global environmental lobby groups, including Greenpeace and the WWF, have made presentations to the seventh World Conference on Sport and the Environment in Beijing. Each NGOs attending the conference have been working with the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Organising Committee (BOCOG) to help create a so-called ‘Green Olympics’. In addition to working with BOCOG, Greenpeace teamed up with Coca Cola to set up 6,000 ozone- and climate-friendly coolers and 350 corresponding vending machines in all official venues at the Beijing Games. Lo Sze Ping, Director of Campaign and Communications for Greenpeace China, hailed the trilateral partnership between a sponsor, an NGO and an Organising Committee, and said it will leave a legacy far beyond Beijing 2008.
