CMA-CGM Signs Xiamen Port Deal
CMA-CGM Group has signed a strategic agreement with the Xiamen city government and Hong Kong-based NWS Holdings to develop Haicang Port Area, a deepwater port in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Scheduled for completion in 2009, it will be CMA CGM's first port investment project in China. CAM-CGM has participated in sixteen wharf investment projects around the world, with plans to invest in Tianjin and Yangshan.
French Companies Sign Deals During Sarkozy Visit
French President Nicolas Sarkozy and China’s Hu Jintao met in Beijing
on Monday, as French companies signed deals worth EUR20bn to sell
nuclear reactors and Airbus planes to China. The largest agreement,
worth around EUE10bn, saw China agree to purchase 160 Airbus planes.
Meanwhile, Areva SA finalised an EUR8bn contract to sell two nuclear
reactors to state-run China Guangdong Nuclear Power, SUEZ signed an
agreement with Tianjin to provide environmental planning for the city
and Alcatel-Lucent clinched an EUR750m deal with Chinese mobile
carriers.
Shanghai Airport to Further Boost Capacity
Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, the world’s sixth-busiest in
2006, will build a third terminal to raise capacity to 80 million
passengers annually by 2015. Last year, Shanghai’s premier airport
posted a double-digit growth in traffic, to 46 million passengers, and
will next year open a new second terminal and third runway. The airport
also aims to raise fraight cargo turnover to six million tones in 2015,
from 2.5 million tones last year.
