Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Beijing on Sunday, and was whisked straight to see the new 2008 Olympic Park. State media quoted the Prime Minister as saying that Beijing's Olympics preparations are a source of inspiration for India, which will host the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi-based Hindustan Times said that Singh’s first official visit to China would focus discussions on a border dispute and the widening Sino-Indian trade gap. The talking may get tough, the newspaper wrote: “While the Prime Minister will aim to improve ties during his visit, bilateral relations between the Asian giants are yet to reach a level of comfort.”

During his first visit to China since taking office in 2004, Singh will meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao, top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao.
