After announcing its debut in the United States (we reported), Lenovo its moving into the French PC market. The company announced that it has launched a new computer product line, called Idea, in France, targeting individual users and small businesses.
Lenovo's Chairman in France, Jean-Michel Donner, has said that the Idea
range of portable and desktop PCs will be on sale by the middle of
January. The Chinese computer producer will sell its desktops and
laptops at four major retail chains throughout France.
Competition however will be fierce. Last November U.S. PC manufacturer
Dell announced an agreement with the world’s second-largest retailer,
Carrefour, to distribute its notebook and desktop PCs across France.
Lenovo also has plans to roll-out its Idea range in other markets,
including Russia, South Africa, Australia, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia,
Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
