Alitalia said it will no longer fly to Shanghai and other key destinations in Asia from Milan Malpensa airport.
The struggling Italian airline, which is in takeover talks with Air
France- KLM, will concentrate most of its intercontinental flights on
its Rome hub and give up its take-off and landing rights in Milan from
30 March. The Milan services to Shanghai, Delhi, Mumbai and Dakar are
unprofitable and contribute to the company's yearly EUR200m loss at
Malpensa, the Italian airline said in its summer 2008 schedule
announcement.
