UC Rusal and China Power Agree Aluminium JV
UC Rusal, the world's second-largest producer of primary aluminum, and China Power Investment Corp. are joining forces to build an energy and aluminium smelter in Qinghai Province, and a bauxite-alumina complex in Guinea. Alumina is made from bauxite and is a key ingredient in the production of aluminium. Rusal will hold 49 per cent in the Chinese aluminum smelter, and CPI will hold 49 percent in the Guinea bauxite-alumina complex. The financial details of the cooperation have not been disclosed.

Weight Watchers To Enter China
Weight Watchers International said it has signed a joint venture agreement with dairy producer Danone Groupe to set up a weight-management business in China. The new company will offer food and dieting services in China. According to the World Health Organization, nine per cent of Chinese men and six per cent of women aged 15 or over will be obese by 2015, although independent figures suggest this figure is under-weighted.
