Hong Kong will host the biggest wine auction in Asia on 31 May, when American wine seller Acker Merrall & Condit will bring the best of the best in world wines to the city.
In order to host the event, Hong Kong had to get abolish its duties on
wine, Reuters reports. It is expected that the auction will garner high
prices for vintages such as 1982 Chateau Lafite, Latour, Margaux and
Mouton Rothschild.
"Hong Kong is ready to run on the fast track to becoming a global wine
hub, alongside New York and London, and we are committed to
facilitating Hong Kong's vision in achieving this," said John Kapon,
President of Acker Merrall & Condit.
