The World Economic Forum – The annual Davos-based gathering of the world's top business, government leaders, financiers, lobbyists and the occasional Hollywood star-turned-philanthropist, which has just added former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to its board – has announced a new partnership with the Chinese government. From 6–8 September, the northeastern Chinese city of Dalian will host its inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions.
According to the World Economic Forum website, the gathering, already dubbed 'Summer Davos' in the media,"will focus on the role that the new generation of fast-emerging multinational companies – the New Champions – are playing in substantially changing the global business landscape."
Participants from more than 80 countries have already signed up for Dalian, where there will be 60 sessions covering key topics of global economic growth such as corporate governance, finance human resources. Around 1,500 participants are expected to take part – including business leaders from fast-growing companies as well as "leaders from global corporations and national and international political figures, leaders of the world's most competitive cities as well as the fastest growing regions and states, experts from the world of Web 2.0, members of the forum's community of Young Global Leaders and the international
media to exchange ideas and share new perspectives."
