Shanghai Minimum Wage the Highest in China
Shanghai's municipal government decided to raise the minimum wage by 14.3 per cent from RMB840 to RMB 960. The raise will be effective as of April 1 and is already the second increase in five months. Raising food prices and rent contribute to the city's high price levels, leaving hundreds of thousands of Shanghai residents depend on government help, state media say.
