mcdonalds.jpgChina’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) may be handing out more fines, but this time to fast food outlets, such as McDonalds, KFC among others, who have not yet registered with the MOC as required, with only 20 days before the deadline, putting them at risk of violating China’s new Business Franchise Operation Management Rule.

The Business Franchise Operation Management Rule, endorsed on May 1 2007, was a  measure taken by the Ministry of Commerce to limit frequent franchise fraud and requests that companies, engaged in franchise operations register with the commerce department one year after its implementation. It is said that up to now, only 236 companies have registered.

The Ministry of Commerce warns that reluctance to register, will result in a hefty RMB100,000 fine.
