Expo 2010 Tops 200 Participants
Shanghai's World Expo 2010 has now signed up more than 200 participants, state media says quoting Hong Hao, Director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination. As North Korea confirmed its participation, and with Antigua and Barbuda and the Republic of Marshall Island also confirming, it has lifted the number of participating countries, territories and organisations to 201. The Shanghai World Expo will from 1 May to 31 October 2010, and is slated as "a global non-commercial exposition aimed at promoting culture, science and technology exchanges."

 

SAIC Completes Nanjing Auto Acquitisiton
Three months after the companies signed an initial agreement, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) has completed the acquisition of Nanjing Auto. SAIC now owns 100 per cent of its Nanjing-based rival, and plans to invest USD1.2 bn to further develop Nanjing Auto's production capacity to up to 500,000 units per year by 2012.
