NBC Reports Strong Olympic TV Sales
U.S. Olympic TV broadcaster, NBC, has sold three-quarters of its 2008 Games advertising space at strong prices, despite the violent protests that have checked the progress of the torch relay, Sport Business reports. "It's not surprising that some would try to use that stage to further their own causes, and we understand that," Jeff Zucker, NBC's Universal President told the London-based sports industry magazine. "But at the end of the day this is about the event and both the advertisers and our viewers understand that."

Chinese Fund Buys Into BP

A Chinese investment sovereign fund has bought slightly less than one per cent in BP, the British company said. The fund purchased shares for about USD2 bn. It is China's second stake in a European oil company after France's Total announced last week that a Chinese fund had acquired 1.3 per cent of the company.
