Huawei, China's largest telecommunications equipment producer, has signed its first major deal in Germany with a contract to supply part of a network for Telefonica's German wireless subsidiary O2, CNBC reports.
The order value was not disclosed but market sources were quoted as saying it could be around RMB100 m. Nokia Siemens also won a contract for part of the same project. Telefonica said it is investing USD5.54 bn in the German market between 2007 and 2010.
Huawei already supplies Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile in Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, Forbes reports.
