Twelve-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer will endorse Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz in China and help advance the automaker’s junior tennis program in the country.
Roger Federer, top-ranked tennis player and one of the most acclaimed sports
personalities in China said in a statement “I look forward to helping
Mercedes grow their business while increasing the popularity of tennis
in China.”
Mercedes-Benz's first-quarter sales in China gained 43
per cent to 8,700 vehicles and the company believes that profit will
rise in 2008 as the growing need from emerging markets such as China
makes up for the effects of a weaker U.S. economy.
The Swiss tennis player is said to take part in the "Swing for the
Stars'" project run by Mercedes-Benz and the China Tennis Association
to train up-and-coming Chinese players and coaches, media reports.
