Guangxi Earmarks RMB260 bn for Transport
The government of Guangxi autonomous region plans to spend RMB260 bn to build an improved transportation network including railways, highways and airports, according to state media. The goal is to better link Guangxi region with ASEAN countries, according to Ma Biao, Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Guangxi is linked to the ASEAN region by both land and sea.


Jiangxi Announces Algeria Investment
Jiangxi province has announced plans to invest RMB3.8 bn in Algeria, state media reports. The money will be channeled via the Jiangling Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone in Algeria, the construction of which will start this year. The economic zone will support the 100 Jiangxi-based companies doing business in the north African country.

 

EV71 Virus Spreads Further
The hand, foot and mouth disease outbreak in China has killed 32 children and infected another 24,934 so far, state media reports. The current outbreak has been linked to the enterovirus 71, which leads to fever, paralysis and meningitis. The disease spread from Anhui province and has now already reached other regions in the south and the north of the country, including Henan and Guangdong provinces.
