The Ministry of Commerce is currently drafting two new important rules to streamline E-Commerce. The new rules will apply to all e-commerce businesses and reportedly stipulates that all store operators must be validated by a legal body and must provide company license, tax registration, special service license and contact details at the bottom of their websites.

The regulations also specify that individuals making transactions must use their real names and those involved in C2C (consumer to consumer) transactions must be natural persons and not corporations. E-commerce operators are required to have safe online payment features and store users’ registration information for at least 10 years.

State media reports that e-commerce platforms must not provide services to unqualified or unlicensed companies, particularly those selling harmful and hazardous goods nor must it deal with special goods like pharmaceuticals and medical instruments.
