Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, last week became the first Chinese city to promote itself as a tourism destination at the annual Arabian Travel Market expo in Dubai.
The Hangzhou Tourism Commission too 180 delegates to the Middle East
region's largest travel and tourism fair, from May 6-9, in a bid to
attract more tourists from the Middle East.
“We promoted Hangzhou as an oriental capital of leisure, a
time-honoured cultural city famed for its tea, silk and beautiful
scenery," said Li Hong, Director of Hangzhou Tourism Commission.
Hangzhou was recognised in 2007 as China's Best Tourism City by the
China Tourism Administration and the UN World Tourism Organisation.
