The 4,000-room Sheraton Macau, due to open in December this year tops the list of the largest hotels to be opened in greater China. Beijing’s largest new hotel opening before the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be the 615-room Beijing Marriott Hotel (opening in February 2008).
“The Olympiad has an outstanding importance and influence on tourism development in China, and many hotels will be opened until August next year,” says hospitality research firm CHD Expert Group. Some 109 new China hotel projects (ranging from 80 to 3,500 rooms) are noted by tophotelprojects.com.
